ACTE - Gas-to-Gas Heat Exchangers and Recuperators
Company Information
ACTE, founded in Belgium in 1998, supplies its proven compact heat exchangers and technology to gas turbine manufacturers, and offers attractive solutions for their heat recuperation requirements.
Patented coiling process
ACTE’s patented coiling process offers a reliable solution for a wide range of heat/electrical applications. Its heat exchangers are suitable for power outputs ranging from a few kW to several MW.
Stainless-steel heat exchangers
ACTE’s heat exchangers are typically supplied in AISI 321-compliant, 0.3mm thick stainless steel; however, other materials are available on request. The core of the recuperator is produced by a fully automatic laser welding production line. This simple process is robust and enables low-cost and high-volume production.
ACTE’s standard stainless-steel heat exchangers operate in the following environments:
- The low stress level in the recuperator enables the use of stainless steel with exhaust temperatures of up to 650°C
- Pressures of up to 20bar
Primary surface, counter-flow heat exchangers
ACTE’s primary surface, counter-flow heat exchangers are highly effective and provide high heat recovery with 90% effectiveness, improving the efficiency of engines and reducing fuel consumption.
Highly effective, compact and robust heat exchangers
ACTE’s heat exchangers have the following features:
- Compact: the small-millimetric size of the gas passages (small hydraulic diameter) results in a lighter and smaller solution
- Annular shape: other shapes are available on request
- Robust and reliable: fouling resistant, thermal shock resistant (sudden load variation) and extended fatigue life
- Flexible design: flexible movement of the surface, allowing the recuperator to breathe
Custom-designed heat exchangers
ACTE’s in-house conception (including CFD models), sizing and design capabilities enable it to meet specific customer requirements and to produce custom-designed heat exchangers.
Exhaust recuperators
ACTE develops other types of exhaust recuperators, including liquid-gas and air-air heat exchangers for building ventilation systems.
Global heat exchangers
ACTE is located near Brussels, Belgium, in the heart of Europe. Its clients and suppliers are located in the Americas, Asia and Europe.
ACTE was founded by a university professor of thermodynamics. Today, ACTE leverages the legacy of its past and maintains close contacts with leading academics in the fields of thermodynamics and heat exchangers.
