New tanker for VOF Generation sails the Rhine with Equadrive system and battery pack
Concordia Damen has delivered yet another CDS Tanker 110, the tanker type it builds on stock, due to its reliability and cargo capacity. VOF Generation, formed by Dutch inland shipping entrepreneurs Danny and Wim Mourik and Sergei Mulder, has taken delivery of their new vessel, mts Generation, and will deploy it for the transport of mineral oils on the Rhine river.
Large cargo capacity, low resistance
The CDS Tanker 110 has been developed with a focus on efficiency, operational reliability, and sustainability. Measuring 110 metres in length, 11.45 metres in beam, and with a loaded draught of 3.30 metres, the vessel offers an impressive cargo capacity of 2,868 tonnes – approximately 200 tonnes more than comparable ship types on the market. Thanks to its smart design, the mts Generation is not only suitable for shallow-water operations but is also environmentally friendly per tonne of cargo transported.
Sustainable propulsion with battery support
The mts Generation is equipped with a hybrid propulsion system, featuring Equadrives from Verhaar Omega and a battery pack from EST-Floattech. EMS carried out the integration of the complete propulsion system and the onboard electrical installation. This configuration ensures quieter, cleaner, and more efficient operation, with peak loads being smartly managed by the battery capacity.
Danny Mourik, co-owner of VOF Generation, looks back on the construction process:
“We are very satisfied with the building process. The Concordia Damen team listened to our wishes and translated them into concrete solutions. For us, it was important that this tanker is a proven model: reliable and efficient. Above all, the fact that we can transport no less than 2,868 tonnes of cargo at 3.30 metres draught is a major advantage. It also fits perfectly with our own business model: taking that extra step. The result is a vessel with which we enter service with full confidence.”
Reliable partner in newbuild
The CDS Tanker 110 is the latest result of Concordia Damen’s successful series of tankers. Thanks to its modular design, customised solutions - such as alternative, environmentally friendly propulsion systems, various cargo configurations, or other client requirements - can be easily integrated. The series therefore meets the demands that both inland shipping operators and charterers place on sustainability and operational flexibility.
Chris Kornet, Managing Director at Concordia Damen: “We are grateful to Danny Mourik and Sergei Mulder for their trust in our shipyard and our trusted outfitters CCM3, and we wish them, Wim Mourik, and their crew many successful and safe voyages.”

About Concordia Damen
Concordia Damen's core business is to design and build inland waterway vessels with an innovative and cost-effective profile, primarily for customers in Western Europe and South America. We serve small and large (family-owned) shipping companies, as well as multinationals looking to optimize their transport logistics.
Down-to-earth management enables us to successfully build vessels worldwide, for example: Canada, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, the Netherlands and Paraguay.
Concordia Damen has delivered more than 270 vessels with different specifications, e.g. dry cargo vessels, tankers, pushers and river cruisers, and we have the capacity to go from 'simple, but effective' designs to full-fledged, zero-emission vessels with future-proof fuel and propulsion systems. High quality, innovative and efficient shipbuilding is the Concordia Damen trademark.
We see changes coming, understand what they mean and can thereby process them quickly and effectively in our services.

CDS Tanker, often seen in models like the CDS Tanker 110 or CDS Tanker 135, refers to a class of inland waterway mineral or oil tankers developed and built by Concordia Damen tailored for European rivers and canals.
