Caterpillar Announces MCS Approved Alarm and Protection can now be Factory Installed on Cat® C18 ACERT™ Package Generator Sets

New MCS alarm and protection option is a factory-installed solution reducing installation/startup time and increasing usability of C18 ACERT™ Package Generator Sets.

Building off of success of the Cat® C18 ACERT™ Package Generator Sets, Caterpillar Marine Power Systems is announcing an additional option to expand the capability for global customers. This new option meets current industry demand for a factory supplied Marine Classification Society (MCS) Alarm and Protection (A&P) system. The order board has been open since early August and orders are currently being accepted.

With the new A&P option, the C18 ACERT Package Generator Set is fully certifiable when it leaves the Caterpillar factory. Torsional vibration calculations, alarm installations, and mechanical additions are all completed prior to shipment. No major package alterations are required at shipyards in order to meet most MCS requirements.

According to Florian Gruber, Marine Sales Director for Caterpillar Marine Power Systems, “In addition to covering all MCS A&P requirements, the package also offers a state of the art controller with functions and features aimed at improving customer experience.”

The heart of the C18 ACERT Package Generator Set is powered by an inline 6, four-stroke, 18.1-liter diesel engine, which is electronically governed, turbo-charged and after-cooled. The package, including the new MCS A&P system option, comes with an excellent standard warranty, which is supported worldwide. In addition to the standard one-year warranty, Extended Service Coverage (ESC) can be purchased to extend the protection of the entire

genset package up to five years or 10,000 hours. This warranty allows customers to enjoy quality service at any of the more than 2,100 world-wide Cat dealer locations.
