I work in the Cost Engineering Office of the New Orleans District Corps of Engineers.  I am requesting a budget price for a monthly rental of a jack up barge which can function in roughly 25-ft of water near the Atchafalaya River in the Gulf of Mexico.  A dredge booster pump would be mounted to the jack up barge.  Weight roughly 1200 tons.

What is Jack Up Barge ?

A jack-up barge, also known as a self-elevating unit or lift boat, is a type of mobile platform used for various marine operations, such as construction, maintenance, and offshore drilling. It consists of a flat, rectangular hull or deck, with long, extendable legs, called 'jacking legs,' that can be raised or lowered to adapt to varying water depths.

The primary function of a jack-up barge is to provide a stable, elevated work platform above the water's surface. When the barge reaches its desired location, the jacking legs are lowered until they make contact with the seabed, providing a solid foundation. The barge is then lifted out of the water by extending the legs further, creating a stable and secure working platform above the waterline.

Jack-up barges are used in several industries, including oil and gas, renewable energy (such as offshore wind farms), and coastal construction or repair projects. They offer several advantages over other types of marine platforms, such as their ability to be easily transported and their adaptability to various water depths and conditions.
