A 2500-3000 dwt (deadweight tonnage) self-propelled barge is a type of vessel that has a carrying capacity of 2500-3000 metric tons of cargo. It is equipped with its own propulsion system, which allows it to navigate through waterways without requiring assistance from a tugboat or other external power source.
These types of self-propelled barges are typically designed for use in coastal and inland waterways, where they can transport a variety of bulk materials such as coal, grain, ore, and petroleum products. They are often used for short to medium-distance transportation of cargo between ports and terminals that are not accessible by larger vessels.
The size and carrying capacity of a 2500-3000 dwt self-propelled barge make it ideal for use in smaller ports and waterways, where larger vessels cannot navigate due to draft restrictions or other limitations. These barges can also be more cost-effective than larger vessels, as they require less fuel and have lower operating costs.
Overall, a 2500-3000 dwt self-propelled barge is a versatile and efficient vessel that can play an important role in transporting goods through coastal and inland waterways.
