KEPCO Constructs 200MW Coal-Fired Plant in the Philippines

Korea Power Electric (KEPCO) has completed the construction of a 200MW coal-fired power plant in Cebu, the Philippines.

The $451m plant is equipped with circulation fluidised bed combustion technology, which reduces greenhouse emissions and provides cost savings.

The Cebu plant will supply 2,050MW of power, which is 15% of the total power consumed in the Philippines.

KSPC, a joint venture between KEPCO and SPC Power, will operate the plant.

The company said that the plant will supply 92% of production to the customers through eight electric cooperatives and two distribution utilities, and the rest to the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market in the region.
