Siemens to Build Offshore Wind Farm in the Irish Sea

Siemens has secured a contract worth $800m from DONG Energy and Scottish Power Renewables to construct an offshore wind farm in the Irish Sea.

Under the contract, Siemens will install 108 turbines about nine miles south-west of the UK's Barrow-in-Furness coastline.

The plant is expected to come online by 2014 and generate power for about 300,000 British households, reports the Washington Post.
